Aura Reading: How to See and Interpret Energy Fields
An aura is an energetic field that surrounds every living being. It contains information about a person's physical health, emotional state, mental clarity, and spiritual development. Learning to see and interpret auras can deepen your understanding of yourself and others.
What is an Aura?
The aura is composed of seven layers, each corresponding to one of the seven chakras. The layers interpenetrate and extend outward from the body. The innermost layer relates to physical health, while the outermost connects to spiritual purpose. Each layer has its own color, texture, and vibration.
How to See Auras
Begin with a partner against a white or neutral background. Soften your gaze and look slightly past their shoulder, not directly at them. Use your peripheral vision. After a few seconds, you may notice a faint colored outline around their body. The first visible layer is usually a pale blue or white mist.
For self-practice, extend your arm against a white wall. Look past your fingers with a soft gaze. You may see a transparent outline or colored glow around your hand. Practice daily to strengthen this ability.
Aura Color Meanings
Red indicates strong energy, passion, and physical vitality. Orange suggests creativity, enthusiasm, and sociability. Yellow shows intellectual energy, optimism, and mental activity. Green represents healing ability, growth, and compassion. Blue indicates calmness, spirituality, and clear communication. Indigo suggests deep intuition and psychic awareness. Violet represents spiritual mastery and transformation.
Aura Texture and Clarity
A bright, clear aura indicates good health and balanced emotions. A dull or muddy aura suggests physical illness or emotional distress. Streaks or holes in the aura may indicate specific areas of blockage or trauma. A large, expansive aura shows strong spiritual development.
Cleansing Your Aura
Take salt baths to cleanse your energetic field. Spend time in nature to recharge. Practice smudging with sage or palo santo. Visualize white light washing through your aura from above. Avoid crowded places when you feel energetically sensitive.
Developing Your Skills
Keep a journal of colors you observe and match them to the person's known state. Practice with children and pets — their auras are often more visible. Meditate regularly to increase your sensitivity. Trust your first impression — it is usually correct.
